Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs is a specially designed, 12 week course which aims to give chronic back pain sufferers the tools to ‘treat’ themselves. It was developed by two expert yoga teachers in association with The University of York, Department of Health Sciences and Arthritis Research UK.
This course has been developed and scientifically tested by one of the largest trials of yoga. The outcomes can be read in more details on the Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs Website. One of the the most outstanding results was that people taking this course had, on average, 75% less absenteeism from work than those who received standard treatment.
The course is only taught by experienced and well qualified teachers who are trained to deliver this structured course in exactly the same way as the original trial. I have been also invited to join the YHLB Institute Strategy Committee.
This course is suitable for those who may have long term chronic back issues as well as those who want to strengthen their back. Though designed for the lower back, the course has proven to help those with shoulder, neck and even hip issues. Contact me for more information re suitability.
The course is taught over 12 weekly classes of 75 minutes duration. Also included is a student manual of postures, a relaxation CD with 4 relaxation tracks and weekly home practice sheets. You will learn a menu of pain relieving poses to choose in week 1 and then a series of gentle and mindful practices that progressively build on each week. This unique course gives you the confidence and the tools to take manage your back pain.
